Our friends, the Sobels, have access, from time-to-time, to really great seats via Mr. Sobel's workplace. Did I say "great?" I meant, wow-I-have-never-sat-that-close-in-my-life seats. Nicholas and the Sobel's oldest son met in school and became fast friends. Mr. Sobel generously offered that we join them last week to watch them play the Phillies.
For that, we are very grateful!
We sat in the second row behind the Dodger dugout, down the third base line. We got to eat and drink as much as we wanted. I took full advantage of that, of course, and had my fill of Brooklyn Dodger Dogs, and brats, and nachos, and lemonade, and because Nicholas woke up at 6am that morning, copious amounts of caffeine to get me through the night.
After the game was over we even got to go on the actual field to watch fireworks. When I was Nicholas' age that would have never happened. By the way, that's some very nice grass out there in left field. The fireworks were pretty awesome.
The Dodgers lost the game. Well, not just lost the game, they got buried 16 - 1 but, hey, that's beside the point.
As a good friend pointed out, the bar has been set really high for any games in the future. However; he was very interested in the seats way up in the very top deck, and kept saying he wanted to be up there instead. Next time, on our budget, he will get that chance.
Walking up to "that" entrance...hmm |
Let me take your picture...uh, okay, here |
We lived in Brooklyn for five years in our past life |
some local news person |
starting to get it |
desperately trying to get on the Jumbotron |
All-star? |
Maybe? |
Pizza saved the night for both kids |
It's okay, it's only seven runs... |
Okay, uh...twelve runs is good |
Maybe we can keep it under 15 |
Who cares what the score is! |
Huh, 16 - 1... |
Okay, two runs at least? |
game over, let's do something we shouldn't! |
About as close you will get to a real pose |
on the left field grass, and it's real grass! |
